John R. Gardner - Board of Trustees Chairman

John R. Gardner graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in the class of 2000, receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics. While in school, John served as Rush Chairman and Vice President of ATO and as Vice President and President of the Intrafraternity Council. John graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2004 and was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review. Following law school, John clerked for the Honorable J. Rich Leonard in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. He now practices law in the Financial Services Department of Kennedy Covington Lobdell and Hickman, LLP in Charlotte. John currently serves as the Chairman of the Alpha Delta Board of Trustees.

David Yarbrough - Alpha Delta Building Company Chairman

David Yarbrough graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1999, receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in English. While an active member of ATO, David held several positions of leadership in the house, including Worthy Scribe. David graduated from Tulane University School of Law in 2002, receiving a Juris Doctor degree. David served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard L. Voorhees and the Honorable Graham C. Mullen, United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and also practiced law for five years in the Greensboro, NC office of the law firm Nexsen Pruet, PLLC. In 2007, David took the position of Executive Vice President of Yarbrough Transfer Company in Winston-Salem, NC. Yarbrough Transfer Company was founded in 1927, and David is proud to be the fourth generation of his family participating in the business. David presently serves as Chairman of the Alpha Delta Building Company and is a member of the Alpha Delta Board of Trustees.

George A. Howard - Member

George Howard graduated from the UNC Chapel Hill in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  Originally from Gilford County, George went on to working in the U.S. Senate in Washington D.C. as staff from 1990 to 1996. He was responsible for environmental public policy, particularly wetlands, water quality and species issues. Recognizing mitigation banking as an opportunity to move home, George returned in 1996 and helped sponsor North Carolina's first successful large-scale mitigation bank.  Currently, he is a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Restoration Systems.

George W. Miller, III - Member

George W. Miller, III graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Industrial Relations in 1990. While an active ATO, George served as Rush Chairman and House Manager, and even lived one summer in the "Ruffin Room." After graduation, George worked as a Legislative Aide to US Senator Terry Sanford in Washington, DC. He graduated from Campbell University School of Law in 1996 and is a partner with the Durham law firm of Haywood, Denny & Miller, LLP. He has been a member of the ATO Board of Trustees since 2000, serving as Chairman in 2002. Among many civic involvements, George also serves on the Board of Trustees of North Carolina Central University, the Durham Public Schools AIG Advocacy Board, and is a youth football, basketball, and baseball coach. George is married, with three children.

P.J. Avetta- Capital Campaign Chairman

P.J. Avetta graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2000, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Business from the Kenan-Flagler Business School.  While an undergrad, P.J. served as Rush Chairman and Social Chairman in multiple semesters, as well as Worthy Keeper of the Exchequer.  P.J. began his professional career working for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League in the fall of 2000, where he presently serves as the organization’s Manager of Sales & Client Services.  P.J. currently serves on the Alpha Delta Board of Trustees and as the Capital Campaign Chairman.

Jay Weaver- Alumni Advisor

Jay Weaver graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2002, with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in American History and Political Science.  As an undergraduate, Jay served as Pledge Educator, Intramural Chair, Worthy Keeper of the Exchequer, and Worthy Master.  After graduation, Jay began his professional career with Black and Decker in Washington, DC.  Jay then joined Chase Card Services to help develop and manage a National Field Sales Organization.  Jay currently serves on the Alpha Delta Board of Trustees as Alumni Advisor.

Brent Jacques- Member

Brent Jacques, originally from Burlington, NC,  graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2000, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis on Advertising.  While an undergrad, Brent served as Social Chairman and Pledge Trainer for multiple semesters.  After graduation, Brent moved to Charlottesville, VA to work for State Farm Insurance, where he met and married his wife, Jennifer.  In 2005, Brent and Jenn relocated back to NC and currently live in Apex.  Brent currently works for Chandler Concrete Company where he is a commercial sales professional who covers the Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham and Western Raleigh markets.  Brent has one son, Grant, and a daughter on the way.

Ed Burke- Member

Ed graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1965 with a BS in Industrial Relations.   While active at ATO,   Ed was also manager for basketball teams coached by Frank McGuire and Dean Smith, serving as head manager and earning a coveted letter on Dean Smith's first team in 1961-62.   After graduation Ed served in the US Navy as a Naval Flight Officer, and then joined the IBM Corporation where he had a career in sales and sales management, before forming his own company, Eastern Technology Associates,  specializing in IT sales and services.   Ed and his wife, Eleanor, now live in Chapel Hill, where Easy Ed enjoys semi-retirement and his work on producing the musical, Lone Star Love,  destined for Broadway.
